Educator Preparation

The Office of Teacher Quality of the Arkansas Department of Education is responsible for approving educator preparation programs that lead to licensure for pre-school through grade 12 teachers and administrators. These programs must reside in professional education units that are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and comply with state standards.

State-Approved Programs for Teacher Education at State Universities and Colleges

The the Arkansas colleges and universities listed below have been approved by the State Board of Education to offer teacher preparation programs. The list gives the specific subject areas and levels of licensure that each institution currently offers.This information should be used as a guide for selecting an institution to assist in meeting requirements for initial teaching licensure or for adding an additional area of licensure.
