State Literacy Plan
A requirement of the Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy Act is the development of a state literacy plan to be submitted to the federal government. Arkansas, like all other states, is required to form a state literacy leadership team to develop this plan. This team is to be comprised of people with expertise in effective literacy instruction for children from birth to grade 12. This team has been formed and will be meeting throughout the 2010-11 school year to develop the state literacy plan. A draft of the Arkansas State Comprehensive Literacy Plan will be submitted to U.S. Department of Education by Feb. 1, 2011. More details on the process for team formation and current team members are available in these documents.
