Are the CCSS a national curriculum?

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are standards, not curriculum.  The CCSS represent clear common goals and expectations for what knowledge and skills will help students succeed in college or in a workforce-training program. States and/or local districts retain the responsibility to adopt curricula, textbooks, and reading assignments.
