Professional Development

All professional development programs must be approved by the Arkansas Department of Education.  Professional Development Approvals must be completed at least thirty (30) days before a program is offered to Arkansas educators.   

Licensed educators in Arkansas are required to obtain a minimum of 60 hours of professional development each year to renew their teaching license.  Required Professional Development for License Renewal is based on the Rules for Professional Development. 

The Office of Professional Development collaborates with many stakeholders to provide quality professional learning opportunities to Arkansas educators.  Common Core Professional Development is available for ELA/Literacy, Mathematics, Science, and Instructional Facilitators.

All approved professional development meets the Standards for Professional Learning:  Learning Communities, Leadership, Resources, Data, Learning Designs, Implementation, and Outcomes.
