Foreign Language Framework Files
Thank you for agreeing to serve on the Revision Committee for the state Foreign Language Frameworks. Your service on this committee is important as we seek to develop the best frameworks we can.
The committee will meet for two weeks this coming summer here in Little Rock – June 24-28 and July 8-12. It is important that you attend both sessions in their entirety. We will meet at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, located at 201 S. Shackelford Road. Lodging and meals will be provided for committee members who reside outside regular commuting distance.
In order for us to complete our work in the brief time we have, I would ask that you prepare yourself in advance by reviewing the documents linked below. You will find the frameworks from other US states and territories, Canadian provinces, and other English-speaking countries. You will also find the proficiency guidelines developed by the American Council on Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), the alignment document that illustrates how the proficiency guidelines relate to the Common Core State Standards, and a few other useful documents. Please review these documents before reporting to Little Rock on June 24.
Thank you again for agreeing to serve on the Framework Revision Committee. Please continue to watch your e-mail for more information, and call or e-mail me if you have questions (john.kaminar@arkansas.gov, 501-683-4905).
Sincerely,
John I. “Don” Kaminar
