Financial Accountability and Reporting

MISSION
The Financial Accountability and Reporting Unit efficiently and accurately collects, analyzes, and reports data related to or from Arkansas public school districts, education service cooperatives, and open-enrollment charter schools that ensures state and federal laws, policies, procedures, and rules are met.

PURPOSE
The unit provides assistance and support to school districts, public charter schools, and education service cooperatives, in order to meet the financial accountability and reporting requirements mandated by State law and the Arkansas Department of Education rules regarding budgets, expenditures, and annual financial audits.

Through an online Duplicate Enrollment website the unit audits districts after state reporting cycles 3, 5, 6 and 7 to resolve any conflicts where students are simultaneously enrolled.  The unit informs districts regarding school election timelines, receives compiles election results, monitors and tracks millage increases, and county property assessments.  The unit monitors districts’ websites to ensure the district meets the state mandates for posting  personnel policies and salary schedules.

The unit compiles and publishes the Annual Statistical Report and Rankings of the Public Schools of Arkansas and manages the School Worker Defense Program.
